Academy members have voting rights for the Interactive Achievement Awards. Members are also eligible to be on a peer panel evaluating and choosing the final nominations for the awards, and to be a peer panel leader for the specific category.
Academy members are entitled to a reduced registration rate for the D.I.C.E. Summit.
This year it is in Las Vegas May 7-9, with the Academy presenting a Games Track on May 8-9.
It is a pioneering initiative that allows the game designers of tomorrow to educate the designers of today. The Game Deconstruction Group has partnered with a group of game degree USC students that will break down every element of a game (from idea, to story, to interface, to game-play, to pacing, balancing, etc.) and present it to a group of industry professionals. Its high bandwidth discussion and rapid learning all combined into an entertaining evening.
