The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) is proud to announce that Ted Price, President and Founder of Insomniac Games, will be honored with a prestigious Hall of Fame Award. Price’s induction will happen at the 28th annual D.I.C.E Awards, taking place on February 13, 2025, at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas. The event will be livestreamed by IGN, and Ryan Schneider, incoming Co-Studio Head at Insomniac Games, will present Price his 2024 Hall of Fame Award live at the event.
Ted Price founded Insomniac Games in 1994 and has led the company for over three decades, overseeing the creation of iconic franchises such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance: Fall of Man, and the blockbuster Marvel's Spider-Man series. Under his leadership, Insomniac has shipped 35 games across major platforms, earning a reputation as one of the industry's most prolific developers. Since Insomniac's acquisition by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2019, Price has continued to guide the studio’s growth, which now boasts nearly 450 employees and a collaborative, transparent culture. His focus has shifted from creative direction to long-term strategy, driving the studio's evolution while fostering a creative and inclusive environment.
Price is a passionate advocate for video game creators’ First Amendment rights and played a key role in industry efforts against restrictive legislation, including the landmark Brown v. EMA Supreme Court case. Committed to giving back, he has championed Insomniac’s charitable initiatives and STEM education outreach and served as the Executive Sponsor for Sony Interactive Entertainment's Global Social Justice Fund, including support for the PlayStation Career Pathways program. Additionally, Price has served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and an original host of its Game Maker's Notebook podcast.
“Ted Price is a Hall of Fame game development leader and an even better human,“ Schneider said. “Ted has guided Insomniac Games and our industry with character and class for more than 30 years. He embodies Insomniac’s vision of making a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives, inspiring countless employees, partners, and players in a truly remarkable legacy.”
“We are thrilled to celebrate Ted Price’s extraordinary contributions to our industry as a visionary and steadfast leader,” said Meggan Scavio, President of the AIAS. “From the humble beginnings of Insomniac Games as an independent studio to its rise as a powerhouse PlayStation studio, Ted has left an indelible mark on our industry. His legacy encompasses a portfolio of beloved and critically acclaimed games, a studio that holds him in the highest regard, and a profound impact on the Academy itself. It is with the utmost honor and excitement that we commemorate Ted’s remarkable career and achievements at the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.”
