Ted Price is the Founder and President of Insomniac Games. Price founded the company in 1994 and has led it for 31 years.
Insomniac is best known for creating and developing iconic game franchises such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance: Fall of Man. More recently, Insomniac developed the blockbuster Marvel's Spider-Man series in collaboration with Marvel Games on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Over its three-decade history, Insomniac has shipped 35 games. During Insomniac's first decade, Price served dual roles as Creative Director on its games and as President. As Insomniac grew, Price shifted his focus from producing its games to directing its long-term strategy. He drove Insomniac’s culture and oversaw the evolution of its structure and processes while remaining creatively involved with production.
In 2019, Insomniac was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Price has continued to lead Insomniac while working closely with new first-party partners across PlayStation Studios.
Today Insomniac has grown to nearly 450 employees and is well-known for its collaborative, transparent culture. Insomniac is also one of the most prolific developers of the modern era, having released four major PlayStation 5 games in the five years since the PlayStation 5 launch.
Throughout his career, Price has been a passionate advocate for the First Amendment rights of videogame creators. He contributed heavily to the Entertainment Software Association’s efforts to oppose numerous anti-video game bills at both the state and federal levels, including the landmark Brown v. EMA case, which the industry ultimately won at the US Supreme Court.
Price has always been a firm believer in giving back, leading Insomniac in its many charitable efforts over the years and helping drive STEM education-focused volunteer efforts at the local and state level in his personal life.
Further reflecting that interest, Price currently serves as the Executive Sponsor for SIE's Global Social Justice Fund which includes support for the PlayStation Career Pathways program. There he assists and advises in efforts to provide onramps into the video game industry for underrepresented youth.
Finally, Price has served on the board of the Academy of Interactive Arts since the early 2000s and is currently its Vice Chairman. He is also one of the original hosts for the AIAS's popular Game Maker's Notebook podcast series.
